If your video is not in one of the formats listed then you may be able to use a tool such as VLC to re-encode your video to one of the listed formats.

Tracking

Suggested Bitrate 512kbps
Minimum Frame Rate 10fps
Minimum Resolution 320x240

  • The overall lighting should not change during the duration of a trial i.e. the lights are turned on or off during a trial. If this occurs tracking quality will be degraded
  • Ideally the object being tracked should have a high contrast against the background i.e. black on white, or white on black. If the animal is on a similar coloured background tracking performance may be impacted
  • If the animal in not a single colour i.e. piebald then 3-point tracking quality may be impacted
  • The camera should remain still during the trial, if the camera moved during a trial the accuracy of the tracks will be reduced
  • Only rodents, fish, and flies are supported as species to be tracked
  • There should only be a single animal within the trial, if there are multiple animals then tracking results will be inaccurate
  • The background i.e. arena should not change too much during a trial, if it does then tracking performance may be degraded
  • Ideally the animal should not leave shot during a trial, if this occurs then tracking performance may be impacted
  • If the experimenter remains in shot within the trial window then tracking performance may be impacted
  • The view should be top-down as close to vertical as possible
